Rhinoplasty (Nose Surgery)


Rhinoplasty is sometimes referred to as "nose reshaping." It can improve the appearance and proportion of your nose, or correct a breathing problem associate with the nose.

The best candidates for this surgery are thepeople with mature nasal structures (Generally bigger than 16 years old), with good emotional balance, conscious of his defects and with realists expectations of the results. 

The aesthetic surgery of the nose has as purpose: 

1.-To improve the proportions of the surgery in each one of the parts. 

2.-To improve their balance regard to each patient's facial profile. 

3.-To conserve an appropriate breathing function. 

4. - To get a harmonious face, adapting the characteristics from the nose to those of the patient's own face. 

ANESTHESIA: The procedure can be carried out with general anesthesia, since it protects the patient's air road. In some cases it is carried out with low sedation and local anesthesia. 

SURGERY: In most of the cases the incisions are inside of the nose, not leaving visible scars. In select cases, it is necessary to carry out a small scar at level of where the base of the nose (columnella) together with the superior lip. 

DURATION: It oscillates an hour and a half at two and a half hours. 

HOSPITALIZATION: Around one day at the hospital. 

POS-OPERATIVE CARES: The nose is protected by a rod of material thermoplastic. It is sometimes necessary to use of nasal plugs which allow passage of the air. The rest at home is necessary during at least 4 later days to the surgery. 

RECOVERY: Later to the removal of the nasal plugs, the recovery is generally quick. Around the seventh day, the patient can be incorporate to the activities. The definitive result is reached near the week 12 pos-operative.
